Choosing the right driving instructor matters
Some instructors compete on price. MD Driving competes on quality of teaching and results. I'm Matthew Durrant, a fully qualified Approved Driving Instructor with 13+ years' experience helping learners become confident, capable drivers.
Meet Matt
I've been teaching people to drive for over 13 years, and I've worked with learners at every stage — from complete beginners to nervous drivers and people who've struggled to make progress with previous instructors.
My approach is simple: client centered learning and teaching, skills driven training to help you understand what's happening behind the wheel.
I'm a DVSA/DVA Approved Driving Instructor (ADI) and an IAM-qualified driver, and I've also trained other driving instructors.
I've spent years developing ways to make complicated driving situations easier to understand — both in the car and through my online driving content.
How I teach
I don't believe good driving comes from simply being told what to do.
My approach is goal-driven and learner-led, adapting the way I teach to how you learn best.
That means helping you understand what's happening, make better decisions and stay composed when the pressure goes up.
The aim isn't to make you dependent on your instructor. It's to develop your ability to drive for yourself.
What learning with Matt is like
Clear explanations. No unnecessary pressure. A plan for what you're working on and why.
I'll explain things in a way that makes sense, give you time to develop your skills, and gradually hand more responsibility back to you as you improve.
You'll always know what you're working on, why it matters and what comes next. That's the difference between simply having a lesson and actually learning to drive.
There’s no shouting, no ticking clocks, no judgment and no being pushed on too far before you’re ready we'll be continually increasing the challenge in a safe way, agreed to by you. Many learners say this is the first time driving has actually made sense.
Go2 to MD Driving
I originally built Go2 Driving School, a multi-car driving school in England with a large local and online following.
It included a large library of driving content on YouTube, helping thousands of learners understand everything from clutch control to test preparation.
MD Driving in NI is the next chapter — bringing that experience into a more focused approach to teaching and driver development.
Is MD Driving right for you?
MD Driving is for people who want more than simply being told what to do.
You might be:
- Starting from scratch
- Nervous or lacking confidence
- Struggling to make progress
- Switching from automatic to manual
- Preparing for another test after failing
If you want clear explanations, structured lessons and an instructor who adapts to you, you're in the right place.
If you're looking for the cheapest possible lessons, I probably won't be the right fit. And that's okay. If you want calm, professional instruction with a clear plan for your progress, get in touch.
