When confidence takes a knock

Sometimes it's not the driving itself that's the problem.

It might be a bad lesson, a failed test, a difficult experience on the road — or simply spending so much time worrying about making a mistake that you stop trusting yourself.

That's where we start.

We'll work out what's holding you back, then build things up gradually so you can start making decisions without second-guessing everything. No rushing. We'll work at your pace.

Confidence comes from doing, not just thinking about it

The more you understand what's happening and experience different situations for yourself, the easier driving starts to feel.

We'll take things step by step, giving you the chance to practise, make decisions and learn from what happens.

As you become more comfortable, I'll gradually give you more responsibility — until you're making those decisions for yourself.

Work on what you're actually struggling with

We can focus on whatever is making you nervous — whether that's:

  • Junctions and roundabouts
  • Busy traffic
  • Parking and manoeuvring
  • Rural or unfamiliar roads
  • Driving independently
  • Preparing for another test

We'll identify the areas that are causing you the most difficulty and spend your time working on those.
